Do you struggle with coming up with fresh content every day? Do you only feel like you can post or email when you're inspired?

Usually, that means your posts are inconsistent.

The best way to make sure that your brand and your information are being seen is to be consistent with your marketing. That includes all the different channels and funnels that you reach out through — blogs, emails, website, social media, traditional ads, PR, whatever you use for your business.

And to make sure that you're consistent and not overwhelmed with creating content, is to have a workflow that works with your business to repurpose your content across every platform.

With Bright Moments, I get the ball rolling based on a theme or idea for a few weeks in a row. From that content- which could be a voice memo, video, or written copy- my team helps craft a blog that can be published, an email to the full subscription list, as well as multiple social media posts throughout the month.

If it's video content, we often also share that on social media and YouTube.

What does a content marketing workflow look like for your small business?

1. Determine what channels that you're going to be posting on regularly. We rotate through blog posts, marketing newsletters, and daily planned social media posts every 2 weeks.

2. Find the best times for your audience to see the post. Look at the analytics from your social media channels, or engagement from your blog comments, or open rates for your newsletters.

3. Set a schedule and stick to it. One of the most important parts of content marketing is consistency. Give your audience a reason to look forward to your posts daily, weekly, or monthly. Set aside time for content review for yourself or your team, and schedule it all in advance to keep yourself from worrying about it!

4. After you map out your marketing content strategy, be sure to set the rotating schedule in your calendar or your project management system so you're consistently creating marketing content.

Tips for Top Content

Blogs

  • Readability is key when you’re talking about reading content on a screen. Keep the sentences short, add plenty of white space, and pop in images every few paragraphs for the best marketing blogs.

  • Headings help keep your thoughts organized and guide readers to the information they crave. Use a few in every blog!

Newsletters

  • Emojis are quickly taking over marketing newsletters! Find cute opportunities to add emojis to your messages.

  • Make it readable with extra white space, dividers, and images. No one wants to read a newsletter that’s simply black text, no matter how exciting it could be.

  • Keep it short and sweet. If you’re recycling blog content, link clients to your website for the full story.

Social media

  • Every platform is different, and they all want unique content to reach the greatest audiences. For example, Instagram is all about visuals, while LinkedIn wants text content that keeps you on their pages.

  • Experiment with posting at different times of day and see which gets the highest engagement.

  • Videos, photos, articles, and plain text posts all get different engagement on different platforms. Play around with what works with your unique audience.

  • Business owners are human, and social media is the best place to demonstrate that. Don’t be afraid to post family content, vacation shots, or even a delicious dinner you whipped up in your stories. Customers and clients love to see the human side, too!
